INDIANA COUNTY COMMISSIONERS RELEASE FUNDING FOR STREAM MONITORING SYSTEM

Indiana County Commissioners met this morning and approved a resolution to release funds from the Site-Specific Post-Closure Trust.

The $40,838 requested by the resolution is for the Evergreen Conservancy and Emergency Management Agency system which monitors any traffic accidents that would impact water quality in Black Lick Creek, Yellow Creek, Little Yellow Creek, Twolick Creek and Laurel Run. The system needs to be upgraded due to an impending shutdown of 3G cellular service, according to Chief County Clerk Robin Maryai.

The Evergreen Reserve received a grant to replace two units, and money from the passed resolution will purchase four more.

In other business, the council approved a bid by Vince Building Company for $130,000 for work on the Buttermilk Falls public access area, including steps, handrails and other features of the falls overlooking on Hires Creek.

Commissioners also approved two $50,000 loans from the CARES Act Revolving Loan Fund. One will go to Mytrysak (Muh-TRIS-ick) Family Tree Farms, and the other to Lamantia Produce.
