A SURPRISE 3D Valentine’s Day card has appeared in North Berwick’s PARTicipate art space, showing the community’s love for Edington Cottage Hospital.
The hospital is currently closed in a bid to regroup staff from East Lothian Community Hospital in Haddington, and the display is intended to show how much the Edington is valued by the local community.

Members of the North Berwick Day Center put the project together by creating hearts, painting the 3D display and putting it all together.
The display can be seen in one of the telephone booths operated by pARTicipate on Westgate.
Lorna Sinclair, Co-Chair of the North Berwick Coastal Health & Wellbeing Association, said: ‘Day Center members wanted to show how much they love the Edington, so using their creative skills they created a collection of hearts, each different.
“I wanted both their artistry and their ‘heartfelt’ support of the Edington to reach a wider audience, and asked if the hearts and some jeweled butterflies could be installed in the telephone booth gallery .
“North Berwick Health & Wellbeing and the Compassionate Communities group have had exhibits in this small art space before, and I’m thrilled with how the facility looks.”
The exhibit relied on volunteers, including Gary Watson, to set it up in time for Valentine’s Day. Gary said: “The hearts look great and the fact that we were able to get them up in time for Valentine’s Day was a great moment.
‘We have just completed all the lighting and thanks to Royal Mail the mural next to the telephone boxes is also lit.
“Being able to adjust the spotlight really brings out the hearts and I appreciate that the members of the day center wanted to support the Edington.
“It was a pleasure to help.”
